Social determinants of health are often at the core of health disparities among the underserved and vulnerable populations Centene serves. We've understood the impact of socioeconomic conditions on health outcomes since our founding, and we remain committed to removing barriers to care as part of our core philosophy. For those already struggling to access nutritious food and other necessities, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused additional hardship for individuals, families, and communities around the world. During this unprecedented time, Centene continues its long-standing support of vulnerable populations through a new series of investments focused on social determinants of health.

In partnership with Feeding America®, Centene will donate one million meals per month, for 12 months, to feed communities across the country. We will also assist those applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as SNAP), connect employees to local volunteer opportunities, and arrange donations to food banks and restaurant crisis funds.

To ensure members of our communities have access to crucial supplies during this pandemic, Centene will purchase 50,000 gift cards in the amount of $35 each for use on essential items. The gift cards will be delivered to local providers and community organizations for distribution to individuals in need. The cards can then be used to purchase essential healthcare and educational items, including diapers, over-the counter medicines, cleaning supplies, and books.

Centene is committed to providing essential items and much-needed resources to vulnerable communities. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, we're in constant contact with federal and local governments, community organizations, industry partners, and other collaborators to determine innovative and timely ways to continue to transform the health of the community, one person at a time.
