Centene Dedicates Cornerstone of New Sacramento Campus

On February 21^st, 2019, Centene dedicated the cornerstone of a new 68-acre campus in the North Natomas region of Sacramento. Centene leadership, including Chairman and CEO Michael Neidorff, joined Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and other elected officials and local civic leaders for the dedication ceremony.

Laura Talmus, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Beyond Differences, a national non-profit organization headquartered in Marin County, California, spoke warmly of Mr. Neidorff and Centene's efforts.

"Centene believes in the power of nonprofits across the country, dedicating their time and resources to help charitable organizations reach their full potential," said Ms. Talmus. "Despite Centene's growth and financial success, Michael's vision has never wavered. His company's continued dedication to their purpose is worthy of the highest respect."

Mr. Neidorff emphasized that the new development supports Centene's commitment to local activation by supplying more resources to help remove barriers to care faced by the under- and uninsured. He noted that this effort contributes both to the health of the community and to local and state economic development.

"We expect to employ a workforce of up to 5,000 on this campus. We are pleased to offer a variety of highly-skilled positions to the area, continuing our efforts to deliver the highest quality of care," said Mr. Neidorff. "In this state-of-the-art facility, we look forward to attracting and retaining some of the top talent in Sacramento to help us achieve our mission of transforming the health of the community, one person at a time."

In an enthusiastic speech, Mayor Darrell Steinberg recognized the power of Centene's presence in California. "We are welcoming a new community leader to Sacramento. Centene and Health Net are at the forefront of serving some of the community's most vulnerable people," said Steinberg. Centene's expansion was noted as a victory for Sacramento. "We can compete for top-flight industries, for more high-wage jobs...and we can win here."

Mayor Steinberg also praised the combined efforts of the public/private partnership. "The way this all came together says a lot about both Sacramento and Centene. When a growing city and a great company are serious about creating jobs and real opportunity for people, we can both move mountains. The Centene agreement may not be the exception, in fact, it's the model of where the public sector and the private sector coming together is both a big winner for the city and for the company."

The facility represents the biggest private sector job recruitment in Sacramento's modern history. Construction is already underway, and hiring is expected to begin in early 2020.
