Centene is proud to be named to FORTUNE® magazine's 2020 list of the World's Most Admired Companies® for the second consecutive year, including ranking No. 2 in the Insurance and Managed Care industry category. Senior executives, directors, and analysts rated enterprises within their own industries and evaluated them on several criteria, including investment value, quality of management and products, social responsibility, and ability to attract talent. A company's score must rank in the top half of its survey to be included in the comprehensive ranking of the best-regarded companies across a variety of industries.

Additionally, Centene was included in Bloomberg's 2020 Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which lists companies recognized as global leaders in advancing women in the workplace. The GEI is 325 companies strong, representing 42 countries and regions around the world committed to a more equal and inclusive workplace.

The GEI is designed to spotlight companies that have made strong commitments to gender equality through policy development, representation, and transparency. Membership is determined by evaluating a company's gender statistics, policies, community engagement, and products and services. Centene ranked particularly well in regard to gender statistics within our employee base, leadership, and products and services.

Below are some of the highlights that earned Centene a spot on the 2020 GEI:

  • Women account for 75% of Centene's workforce.
  • Women comprise 64% of supervisors and above.
  • Women constitute more than 30% of our executive leadership team.

Centene was also recently listed as one of the Best Places to Work by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation after earning a perfect score of 100 percent on their Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The CEI is a national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) employees.

The CEI rating criteria have three key pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities.

Centene joined 686 other businesses--spanning multiple regions and industries--in earning a top score of 100 and the distinction of "Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality."
