Centene's local approach empowers our health plans nationwide to determine how to best help families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among our relief efforts, Centene's health plans partner with community organizations to deliver resources to students and their families.

Though the start of the upcoming school year is much different than in years past, it's critical that students are supported. Centene’s health plans organized several events to equip school-aged children for academic success.

Centene's Nevada health plan, SilverSummit Healthplan, distributed 2,000 backpacks and school supplies to youth during an event organized by local community leaders. Several other services were available at the event, including COVID-19 testing, document shredding, and medication disposal. Attendees practiced social distancing by remaining in their vehicles while accessing services and receiving supplies.

Centene's New York health plan, Fidelis Care, partnered with the National Supermarket Association on "Let's Feed NYC," a food drive for immigrant families in College Point. The donated food was given to families enrolled at P.S. 19, a nearby elementary school.

Ambetter from Arkansas Health and Wellness helped provide students with bottled water and fresh fruit and vegetables through a donation to Cleveland School District in Rison, Arkansas. The district offers breakfast and lunch to more than 300 people each day, regardless of enrollment in the school district.

Centene's St. Louis employees were invited to help children in the region by supporting virtual school supply drives. An online wish list was provided from Youth in Need, an organization that helps youth and families find safe and nurturing homes while they complete their education, learn independent living skills, and secure employment. A wish list was also available for Ferguson Florissant School District, a community partner of Centene's Missouri health plan, Home State Heath.

Centene's health plans will continue partnering with local organizations to meet the needs of students throughout the school year and beyond. Learn more by visiting our COVID-19 Resource Page and seeing how our commitment to youth development is put into action across the country.
