Honoring our Employees and all Healthcare Professionals on World Health Day

Established nearly 70 years ago by the World Health Organization, World Health Day is dedicated to recognizing the vital contributions our care professionals make to shaping a better world of healthcare. In addition to thanking our more than 64,000 employees, Centene joins in honoring healthcare professionals across the country and globally as they work tirelessly to protect us during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Centene's purpose of transforming the health of our communities is at the core of our diverse clinical workforce. Our medical directors are practicing physicians and our medical leadership works closely with providers to ensure the best possible care for our members. We rely on the knowledge and experience that our many professionals across our enterprise, including providers, nurses and community health workers, bring to their roles and to those we serve. Centene recently announced a Medical Reserve Leave policy to support clinical staff who choose to combat the COVID-19 pandemic by joining a medical reserve force to help serve their communities. The policy will provide paid leave and benefits for up to three months of volunteer service.

Centene is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and engaging with medical experts, government agencies, and community partners as this situation evolves. Our health plans are also responding in a variety of ways within our local communities, including:

• Centene's California health plan, Health Net, contributed $150,000 to the Donate 4 Sacramento Relief Fund in partnership with the City of Sacramento and the Sierra Health Foundation.
• Managed Health Services, Centene's health plan in Indiana, donated 1,500 surgical masks to the Indiana State Department of Health, which will provide them to a hospital partnership of the five major central Indiana hospitals.
• Centene's New Mexico health plan, Western Sky Community Care, is providing funding for over 3,000 emergency meals.
• Centene's health plan in Iowa, Iowa Total Care, donated $10,000 to the Food Bank of Iowa.
• Sunshine Health, Centene's Florida health plan, and Community Based Care Integrated Health established a $200,000 Critical Needs Fund for Child Welfare High-Risk Population. The fund will help defray some of the financial impacts facing public health as a result of COVID-19.
