The Centene Center for Health Transformation is dedicated to advancing research to influence health behaviors and improve lives so individuals and communities can thrive. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us, bringing change to our work and home lives, and new recommendations to help keep us healthy.

Centene has prioritized sharing information from trusted public health leaders, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). As the outbreak continues to evolve, the Centene Center for Health Transformation has worked with its partners Washington University in St. Louis and Duke University to develop and share ways to follow CDC guidelines easily.

Here are a few helpful tips from the Centene Center for Health Transformation to enhance your health and well-being at home and work.

Keep Your Surroundings Clean, including Your Phone

  • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces such as desks, keyboards, tables, doorknobs, light switches, and countertops.
  • Set an alarm to clean your phone once per day.

Establish a Daily Routine

  • Creating a routine helps us feel safe and secure. Make a list of what you need to do each day. Plan your most important tasks first. Leave some flexibility in your schedule for unexpected projects or plans.

Exercise Each Day

  • Pick a time that works for you every day. Go for a 30-minute walk, run, or bike ride. Make sure to always practice social distancing and follow other CDC guidelines.
  • Try online or virtual exercise classes. Your local gym or YouTube channels are both good places to look.
  • Save your favorite podcast to listen to when you exercise.
  • Making exercise a game can turn a chore into a highlight. Exercising with your family adds quality time. Consider active video games and other online opportunities.

Focus on the Positive and Express Gratitude

  • Take a moment to think of something you’re grateful for each day.
  • Try gratitude journaling. Writing helps to organize and process your thoughts.
  • If you feel upset, try to determine what’s bothering you. By viewing a stressful situation in a positive light, you are thinking about it in a way that would make you feel less stressed.
  • Be mindful of social media use. While the platform can help you safely connect with friends and family, try to refrain from news that might be untrue or make you upset.
  • The CDC website offers more suggestions for managing mental health.
