Those who serve and protect the U.S. are as diverse as the communities where we live, work, and serve our members. Centene is committed to supporting service members, veterans, reservists, and their families and helping them access high-quality healthcare. That support is not only a priority in serving members of the military but a focus within our workforce.

Health Net Federal Services (HNFS), a Centene subsidiary, has served our nation's military and veterans for more than 30 years. HNFS partners with the Department of Defense to provide healthcare to service members and their families. HNFS serves nearly three million beneficiaries, including active duty service members, veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserve, and their loved ones through the TRICARE program.

Since 2007, HNFS has partnered with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a nonprofit organization that helps those grieving the loss of a member of the armed forces. In 2019, the Centene Charitable Foundation entered into a five-year national partnership with TAPS to support suicide prevention and postvention outreach for friends and families of veterans.

Centene's dedication to ensuring our workplace engages our service members is further established through partnerships with organizations such as Hiring Our Heroes and Recruit Military. Centene also supports the Washington Center's Veterans Employee Trajectory Initiative, which gives 25 veterans from colleges nationwide an opportunity to participate in a summer internship in Washington, DC. Additionally, Centene partners with the Great Falls College–Montana State University Veteran Support Center to help veterans, their spouses, and dependents receive services geared toward classroom and career success.

Centene employees have the opportunity to participate in a virtual Veterans Day program put on by CENVET, Centene's Veterans and Military Families Employee Inclusion Group. The event will honor Veterans Day through a flag folding ceremony and remarks by executive leadership. Employees are also invited to write encouraging letters to loved ones of those who have died while serving in the Armed Forces to further support TAPS. Letters from participating employees will be included with packaged resources for the TAPS Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in November.

Centene was proudly recognized in 2018 with the Patriot Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and was named a Top Veteran-Friendly Company by U.S. Veterans Magazine in 2020.
