Centene health plans have a steadfast commitment to providing accessible, quality care to each and every member. But Centene's commitment to care goes far beyond standard healthcare, it means addressing an individual's "whole health" and tailoring solutions to their unique situations.

Mitch, a member of Centene's Texas subsidiary, Superior HealthPlan, is a 17-year-old with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture, so addressing mobility needs is crucial to improving quality of life. When Mitch shared his three wishes for high school with Superior Service Coordinator Loretta, she stepped in to help make those wishes come true.

In this member testimonial video, see how addressing individual needs is a critical part of how Centene provides truly effective overall healthcare.

The symptoms of cerebral palsy vary from person to person, further supporting the need for specialized care. Although, there is no cure for cerebral palsy, a team of health professionals can develop a customized treatment plan to improve health outcomes. As seen in this video, Mitch's concerns about having a wheelchair that fit his personalized needs was top priority to his service coordinator.

When choosing mobility aids such as wheelchairs, it's even more important to understand how specialized equipment can be adapted to an individual's anatomical structure, height, weight, and diagnosis. Having the proper range of motion in a specialized wheelchair can help members improve posture, avoid ulcers and pressure points, control muscle tone, increase circulation, and improve overall quality of life. Thanks to a service coordinator working to help Mitch reach his full potential, he was able to receive the right care, at the right place, at the right time.
