Centene and our subsidiaries have a long history of active, local involvement in the communities we serve. We have developed a diverse range of innovative partnerships and community investments that work together to create sustainable solutions that support vibrant and healthy communities.
Since 2021, Centene directly, and through the Centene Foundation, has invested over $100M in nonprofit organizations, most of whom have established relationships with the Centene Foundation, as well as with Centene Corporation, Centene health plans, and Centene subsidiaries. Through strategic partnerships with local organizations and a commitment to Centene’s overarching purpose, our charitable investments aim to remove barriers to health for the underserved and provide long-term results that truly transform the communities we serve.
Association of Clinicians for the Underserved
Since 2016, Centene has partnered with the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) in support of initiatives to improve the health of underserved populations and the clinicians who serve them. A collaboration aimed at providing mobile vision services grants to help create comprehensive, onsite vision services, and other resources to assist community health centers in rural and under-resourced communities has resulted in the current or emerging implementation of permanent vision services in community health clinics in 24 communities.
With support from Centene, the ACU expanded the Suicide Safer Care program to train more than 2,000* clinicians to better meet the needs of patients in crisis. The program and a related toolkit included evidence-based practices for suicide prevention in primary care, including screening, assessment, and intervention techniques.
Centene’s ongoing support and commitment also aids programming aimed at increasing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) in health centers.

The KIPP Foundation
Centene is a proud partner of The KIPP Foundation’s commitment to accelerate early literacy achievement across their national network of high-performance schools. The Knowledge Is Power Program, commonly known as KIPP schools, recently launched a new initiative to target the closing of early literacy achievement gaps among students. With Centene’s support, KIPP’s collaborating partners will design and deliver customized teaching tools for regional-specific needs.
A Partnership to Support Health Equity
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in healthcare around the globe, including health disparities that have existed for decades among vulnerable populations in the U.S. To help promote health equity and wellness in the wake of the pandemic, Peach State Health Plan, Centene’s Georgia subsidiary, and Morehouse School of Medicine established the Peach State Excellence in Health Equity Innovation Fund, a partnership that will enhance health outcomes and equity for Black communities across Georgia. The new initiative will help Morehouse, one of the nation’s historically Black medical schools, take great strides in education, clinical work, and research and tackle healthcare disparities.
